A poem by Wambui JL
Let's remember this energy. Let's remember to tell all who care to listen About these days Of true awakening Of palpable action Of forever change Of things never being the same again. Let's remember this energy. Let's remember how it felt When we spoke truth When we said what we had to When we resisted abuse When we said NO! When we said it's enough! We are tired. Let's remember this energy. Let's remember that we should never Sell our souls to those who Don't Won't Can't Aren't capable of appreciating us For who we always were For who we are For who we will become. May they come to truly know us. Let's remember this energy. Let's always remember that be they White saviours or homeguards Lovers or Haters Family or Friends Bosses or Colleagues Known or Strangers Police or Politicians They don't deserve our essence. Let's remember this energy. Let's remember that We will work in this town again because We are worthy We are talented We are deserving We are living in our purpose. Let's remember this energy. Let's remember it when we need to Show up for each other Be that shoulder Save that life Pound that fist in the air Carry that placard Stand that ground. Let's remember this energy. Let's remember it tomorrow, In a month In 6 months In a year It in 10 In 50. Let's. Remember. This. Energy.
